From the chairman
Happy New Year!
On behalf of all our staff, I would like to send sincere greetings and best wishes to CISDI’s customers and partners around the globe.
The past year proved to be a memorable one.
CISDI teams braved post-pandemic challenges at project sites in China and around the world as the world economy regained momentum.
Through deeper market research, our teams forged closer communications with a wider range of customers and partners in the UK, Canada, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, India and Turkey.
At METEC, CISDI’s overseas marketing specialists exchanged views on global steel sustainability with clients old and new, winning applause for the company’s latest technological solutions.
In China, CISDI’s tech and equipment helped to create the country’s most modern Digital Factory, complex and base and numerous high-end production lines.
A trusted service provider, CISDI successfully delivered on numerous contracts and won new orders for its design, consulting, manufacturing services and its sought-after automation and intelligent solutions.
These interactions created a closer affinity between CISDI and its customers and assured CISDI staff that we are ushering in a brighter future for steel via science and technology.
CISDI has long been committed to delivering green, low-carbon products which achieve substantial cost savings and greater efficiency. It is dedicated to furthering technological innovation, sustainable development and enhanced competitiveness.
To advance green, low-carbon businesses, CISDI has formulated Green Steel solutions which can be tailored precisely to its customers’ unique resource and energy conditions.
These solutions were created after in-depth studies of de-carbonisation methods and targets set across different countries and regions.
CISDI’s low-carbon, 2,000 cubic metre blast furnace saw its first application in North China. It is achieving a stable 10 per cent reduction in carbon emissions, a world first.
CISDI-SuperARC went into operation for the first time at a steel plant in Southwest China. This 3rd-generation green electric arc furnace features world-class indicators - an average tap-to-tap time of 30 minutes, a power consumption of 300kWh per tonne of liquid steel and an electrode consumption of less than 0.9 kilogram per tonne of liquid steel.
I’m very proud to highlight CISDI’s new tech products, which give our customers greater choices for new energy - including hydrogen metallurgy, energy efficiency and waste to energy recycling.
To advance smart and efficient standards, CISDI has ensured it is a ‘step ahead’ of the digital, smart tech application sector. The CISDigital® industrial internet platform has been applied to all steel manufacturing processes. The platform-based Yongfeng Lingang smart factory in China’s Shandong Province has achieved an average annual rolled product output of over 2,000 tonnes per capita and cost reductions of US$22.35 per tonne of slab.
CISDigital® AI Eyes had 130-plus operations for recognising steelmaking basic oxygen furnace flames.
iSmartONE - CISDI’s autonomous, smart hot metal transport system - hit its target of reducing hot metal temperature drop to within 100 deg.C in a single month, a record for China.
CISDI’s smart scrap cutter RUICYCLE was the year’s star launch.
To aid steel producers wanting to make their businesses smarter, greener and more profitable, CISDI has developed a range of transformational products - including the specialty ore blending and proportioning yard, the smart and eco-friendly stockyard, high-efficiency and low-consumption blast furnace, SACS four-point linkage suspension system, continuous caster, high-strength hot strip skin pass mill, UMCD universal mill, 3-roll mandrel pipe mill, reversing cold rolling mill, smart rotary hearth furnace and super-efficient reheating furnace.
Today’s steel industrial readjustment and green, low-carbon transition is outpacing expectations set by the global steel markets.
Keenly aware of trends, CISDI is speeding up the perfection of its global layout, which allocates stabler and more efficient industry chain resources and tailors engineering, tech and product, and digital project management systems to customer needs.
CISDI UK in Sheffield is CISDI’s centre for global operations outside China. Its strengths in full life-cycle operations means it plays a world-class role in creating values for customers - from design to supply chain management, process control, onsite services and ops management.
CISDI Group - a sci-tech-based service provider, will continue to create innovation-driven developments with a focus on smart, green, low-carbon and efficient metallurgical applications.
I am full of confidence that CISDI’s new processes, new tech and products and manufacturing methodology, which have already become a strong support for the global steel industry, will further its important role.
A New Year implicates fresh hope - and 2024 heralds a brighter future for steel. It calls for fellow traders to work together and collaborate on innovations.
