The top section of a 150,000 cubic metre-volume LDG holder, being built by CISDI at a steel plant in Vietnam, has been lifted successfully into place.
The giant gas holder will achieve outstanding results for the Dung Quat steel plant, which is part the Hoa Phat Group.
It is the second LDG holder CISDI Thermal has supplied to a Vietnamese plant and, with a barrel with the diameter of 61.8m and a total height of around 71m, it ranks as the largest Chinese export of its kind.
With CISDI’s state-of-the-art gas holder tech and a unique typhoon-resistant and low-stress barrel structure, the holder will be capable of achieving a huge throughput capacity and outstanding stability and safety.
CISDI’s slim gas holder solutions are tailor-made to fit in the narrow reserved space to the south of an operational melting workshop and to withstand typhoons.
The gas holder is designed with lightweight, but incredibly high-strength, steel structures which are distortion-resistant - factors which have saved on the project’s investment costs.
Since breaking ground on the project last December, CISDI’s team has overcome multiple complications caused by the pandemic, a Vietnamese typhoon and extremely hot weather.
But all milestones, including top lifting, were achieved on schedule and the team’s technology, management and service expertise has won high praise from an appreciative Dung Quat.
With the internal construction and drive and instrument installation set to progress smoothly, the gas holder is on target to become an outstanding overseas example of the CISDI brand.
