The first ring of blast furnace 2’s shells have been installed successfully at Jindal Steel Odisha Ltd. in India.
JSOL appointed CISDI to create two new blast furnaces, each with a 5,499 cubic metre volume, in mid 2021.
CISDI is carrying out the design and providing core equipment supply and constructional consulting services for BF 2. Basic engineering work was completed last May.
Hearth cooling staves - CISDI’s first batch of supplies - arrived at the site in December and the shipping of other supplies is running to schedule.
The pandemic, plus language and time zone difficulties, cultural and working differences meant that initially, communications were problematic. But up to five video link meetings a week have successfully kept CISDI and the client’s teams connected for over a year and a half.
