A roughing mill and an edger mill re-designed by CISDI at Meishan Steel’s 1,422mm hot rolling line are now operating with advanced technological parameters.
The line’s main equipment was old second-hand, having been imported from Japan in the 1960s.
It was modified by CISDI in 2002 and 2006. But current market requirements meant further upgrades to re-engineer mills and functions were necessary in order to improve product quality.
CISDI explored a rebuild feasibility study from 2020 and, using its rich engineering experience, proposed a plan to install the roughing mill in a new position and add a new edger mill. The new layout will accommodate any requirement for futures.
Meishan Steel applauded the E1R1 solution, which minimised the line’s downtime and the effect on production during rebuild construction.
The team made comparative calculations on different steel grades to define E1R1’s critical mechanical parameters and ensure an advanced configuration.
