A modified continuous annealing line at New Tianjin Steel in China’s Tianjin has discharged its first ZnAlMg-plated coil.
It represents CISDI’s latest achievement in the ZnAlMg plating sector. The company has already successfully carried out similar transformations for JISCO and Lianqiang.
In response to Tianjin’s need to expand its product mix to meet higher market demands, its 15-year-old NTS line was modified to a continuous annealing and continuous galvanising line – CAL-CGL.
CISDI applied its breakthrough technologies in post-plating cooling and liquid zinc controls. The line is now a more capable producer of high-strength and mild steels and can more flexibly switch to producing annealed and ZnAlMg-plated products.
The line can also produce ZnAlMg and AlZnSi-plated coils. The 6Al3Mg-plated coil passes the C5 salt spray test and consequently is China’s optimum product.
The line features the following advantages:
1) Stable production of thin strips, with a maximum width of 1,600 millimetres
2) The 6Al3Mg coil is spangle-free, with all-line equipment to run by one pass
3) Effective re-use of the existing workshop to create a compact, optimal layout
4) The line performs with a state-of-the-art technological, equipment and production control level in China
